Hello Brooklyn

-Jamie

Our flight (Steve and I) actually arrived to Laguardia airport fifteen minutes ahead of schedule. The captain came over the intercom and welcomed us to New York. He told us we were early and that we should be pulling up to the gate shortly. A few minutes later he announced that there was some congestion on the taxiway and we would be at the gate as soon as possible. About twenty-five minutes later and now ten minutes late we secured our spot at the concourse. After a quick walk to baggage claim we waited for our luggage on one of the two carousels that accommodate the luggage for ALL of the passengers.

After grabbing our bags and making our way outside we were greeted by a long line of people who were also trying to make their way into the bustling city. Finally, a cab for us. We loaded our bags and told the cabbie Sixth avenue and Flatbush and we were on our way; that is until we hit the wonderful New York City traffic. Good news for us cabs now have little TVs in them. When we arrived in Park Slope (one of Brooklyn’s finest neighborhoods) I had to get keys for the apartment from a guy at a restaurant who Matt had left them with. Got the keys. Got into the bulding now had to determine which key opened which lock on their door. After several minutes of trying to get in, the door swings open and Anthony, one of the roomates, is on the other side. He looks at us like we are crazy and says, “can I help you?” at which point we explained that we were Matt and Mark’s friends from Atlanta and would be staying for the weekend. He looked at us then turned around and walked back to his room…nice and awkward, just the way I like it.

Finally Mark and Matt came home and BEER!
